Wounded Warriors of Collier County could end homelessness among veterans with latest project

The nonprofit Wounded Warriors of Collier County says it is on the verge of ending homelessness among veterans in the community.

Achieving that milestone could mean the charity takes a breather from its practice in recent years of acquiring properties to house homeless veterans.

Wounded Warriors was set to close Friday on the purchase of a 10-unit apartment complex at 4220 Gulfstream Drive in East Naples, according to Dale Mullin, president of the Collier-based organization. It has no affiliation with the Wounded Warriors Project. The price tag: $2.77 million

Called the Delta House, it is the largest project for the organization, which currently operates three homes with a combined capacity to serve 13 homeless veterans in either transitional housing or for older veterans with longer-term needs.
